Portal 2

Post by pookaguy » Mon Apr 04, 2011 7:38 pm

Just one of the newer games that is going to be the GREATEST GAME EVER!

E3 Trailer

Co-op trailer

A commercial for Portal 2

With only 15 days until release, I can't wait!
It looks very polished, and has a good chance to be one of the best Valve games ever.

If I were a reviewer, Portal would be the one and only game to get a 10/10 from me.

So it's pretty much a given that I'll be buying the sequel.

...

Please don't suck, please don't suck, please don't suck, please don't... wait, this is Valve we're talking about. Please don't be merely great, please don't be merely great, please don't... etc etc.

I must agree with you Zhukov, it even has great re-playability after the 10th time of finishing it.

The only thing that could have made it better would have been if it were a little bit longer.
It could have easily been, without any other faults kicking in. If it had, let's say, two more testing chambers, it would have been an easy 11/10 for me.

And yes, I preordered the second one as soon as I could, February 14th.

Yes, the longer it takes, the more awesome it is going to be.

I'm hoping that they scrap the whole "episode" thing and just call it Half-Life 3.

I'm hoping that's what they're planning to do, but I remember reading something a while ago in which one of the developers said they aren't really Half Life 2: Episodes 1 and 2, more Half Life 3: Episodes 1 and 2, and here's the kicker, they said they were doing it like that because they didnt want to keep the fans waiting!

Of course, thats probably just Valve stalling for time...

Fixed. Otherwise, there will be severe worldwide consequences.

If it releases at the end of 2012 and it wasn't worth the wait then you know why the world will end.

Daikatana took a LONG time... and look what it ended up being. Long development does not equal good!

Portal was a very fun little game, but I'm afraid I'm not prematurely ejaculating all over it as much as everyone else seems to.

I think it's definitely up there on the best games I've ever played list though.

When talking about Valve, it does.

I believe it has been confirmed to be Episode 3, not Half-Life 3. Sorry mate.
It is just a name, anyway.

I can't fucking wait. I'm getting a computer next week that will actually be able to play it, and I'm going to order it as soon as it comes out. I loved the first one, so even without the new features I know I'm going to love the new maps.

Let the puzzles begin ^.^

Valve is one of my few last hopes in humanity.
Face it, they have practically not made a single bad game. I believe the worst of them would be "Ricochet", but hell, even that is actually funny and very much playable with a friend, or three.

I'm gonna borrow a word here from Andy, but premature ejaculation is a very possible case when it comes to one of the best game developers in history making a much-required sequel to one of the best games in the world. Image

Hm.

I love Valve as much as anyone and probably more than most. (Seriously... they're up there with Bioware, Team Ico and Irrational.)

However, I do wish they'd make more games that aren't bloody FPSs. Granted, they do it better then damn near everyone, but the market is kind of flooded at the moment, what with everyone trying to be the next CoD.

I mean, a third person action-platformer (think Enslaved or God of War) made by Valve? Fuck yes, sign me up.

Of course HL2Ep3 is exempt by dint I-fucking-said-so.

You're forgetting that Half Life isn't really much anything like Cockadoody. Unless you consider the corridorness of it, and even then I think it's better than Cockadoody in that regard.

But, yeah, it would be interesting to see what other genres of games they can make. They'd probably stick with FPS's though since that's what they know best.
