Please Help, I'm panicking!

A friend on another forum site posted about a rumored Virus and like an idiot, I clicked it.
Don't even know why. I've only ever had a virus once before, and it wasn't even a dangerous one.
I dealt with it rather easily.

Apparently there's a site which I will NOT link to.. in case there's idiots like me out there. XD
That supposedly the government made to check if you have this, "DNSseverVirus." the page has a picture which is green if you don't have it and Red if you do. Welp mine was green, but then my brain got to thinking, what if everyone's is green, what if the picture never changes it just tricks into thinking you don't have it when you do!

So now I'm shaking having a panic attack, and thinking I have this horrible virus that may or may not affect my Avast. I'm frantically having it scan my Laptop, and thinking that this think could be so diabloical that it may not even pick up on it.... ; A ;

Norton and McAffee, ain't worth shit. I got a virus 2 years ago because of Norton... 8C

I have Avast AND Malwarebytes. Problem is, I sure I'm safe.
I just panic easily. When it comes to Viruses.

Try using system restore. If you don't know what that is, look it up, it's pretty simple(and I'm lazy). It's saved me quite a few times.

You won't need to get a new computer if you get a virus, just back up your important files, reformat and reinstall Windows, or be daring and try out an alternative operating system such as Ubuntu like someone mentioned (much, much less chance of getting a virus, you don't even need any antivirus software).

My experience of anti virus programs: "You've got a virus! *crash*" -> Virus shows up and adds a couple of icons and changes my background image -> I reformat C:/. Le done.

I have something to contribute to this conversation.

Kaspersky Internet Security is the most advanced and most secure Anti-Virus out there. Get it and never experience viruses again. It'll obliterate everything that poses harm to your computer, while still letting everything run as it should.

No antivirus is perfect, but it's worth a try. Another great antivirus which is free(with optional paid features) is Malwarebytes, which is very good. Or you could use system restore, and if the virus has deleted that(which happened to me once) you can just reinstall windows like silverfish said.

With regards to never getting a virus for free(or to be extra secure the full versions have some more stuff and are still pretty cheap), Malwarebytes and Winpatrol are amazing. Winpatrol tells you whenever something tries discreetly changing something on your computer(like during many installations, including background virus installations) and if you have plus you can access a huge database to see if it's safe or dangerous(or somewhere in between), and allow it or stop it. Before using these two, I got ridiculous numbers of virus's, but since then I have never gotten any. I actually downloaded a virus to test, and it stopped it just fine. These two are cheap(or free), very low hassle, unobtrusive, no annoying subscription stuff, and they are pretty small files, especially when compared with big name brand antivirus software.
