when i was having a shower i had a better Idea.

we get JEff or anyone to make a program disguised as a crack, that does something to the users computer or whatever. And then flood the internet crack sites etc With this program disguised as lugaru cracks! so each site has 100's of dud Lugaru cracks. yes? I would volenteer my flooding services. I just dunno how to program.

Or... not.
People don't propagate a "crack" that obviously does nothing but screw up their OS.

it could just be a dud file? people would give up looking if all they could find is 100's of dud cracks...
I reckon it would work.

ah besides, apart from a few people, the people who use cracks arent exactly ever going to buy the game.

Reputable crack sites screen submissions.

Well, the idea might work, but instead of crashing the computer, it makes it so that the person that cracked it can never enter a serial (even bought) and have it work :D . That would be fair.

Except if they can't get a working crack, they might want to buy the game, and.. then they couldn't because they tried to use a crack.
We have at least one person on the boards who bought the game because he couldn't get a crack to work.

Or you should have to verify the credit card or paypal account :) THEN you dont need to worry about piraters at all... I hope.

I said this somewhere else but I tried to get a crack once, it turned out to be a virus that made my account unusable until my dad fixed it. So you don't need to make a virus-dud-crack because there are already some out there.

I have an idea... Add the order form in the game, and make the demo with no entry code, problem solved. i think.

That would require the computer to have an internet connection, and it's still not hacker-proof.

I don't think you can really prevent competent hackers from producing cracks (not that I'm aware of), but you can make it difficult for the average user to use those cracks, which is good enough.

whatever you do, DO NOT make it so you need a credit card. I wouldnt be able to get it then. I would have to sneak my parents card again haha.

What is the alternative? Mailing a money order?

Didn't i hear somewhere that L2 would be on CD?
if that is the case, who needs Shareware? Demo version and full version off CD. It works...
