Lugaru Heightmap city *Image intensive*

Post by Mike_Cuzins » Sat Dec 23, 2006 9:45 pm

I have edited the height map into squares, black road, slightly less black for footpaths and white for the tallest sky scraper, i then edited the snow textures so that instead of clifs it is windows, it looks pretty cool, unfortunately i think it automatically makes the ground slightly bumpy, i will post some screeens in a sec, its pretty sweet.

ok, Pictures, Only, theres a problem, the windows are now on the ground too :( so i will fix that first. I will use the map editor to add details etc (trees and whatnot.

Edit:
OK, so that's fixed, NOW, how do i turn off that automatic bumpy thing.
See, althought the height map is just one single color, the game automatically makes it slightly bumpy. then i will post a pic.

Ok, i think i will give up. I dont understand how textures are applied well enough to be able to manipulate it. but here are some pics.
P.S. turners textures went all wierd when he had a big fall with a viewdistance of 999.

Alright, things looking up, I finished the heightmap and its sweeeet. I killed the textures and it really helps. Its soo much fun to run around on. One prob, u can walk up walls, as in if you bump into one, you shoot up to the roof, That doesnt matter, its fun to jump from rooftop to rooftop.

Theres also some chimneys, they are sweet. you can jump down them, your legs go crazy its pretty funny. Theres and example of the crazy legs only not in a chimny in pic 1. Thats at the very corner of the map.

heres the heightmap. Right click and save image as, then Just copy it into your Lugaru/Data/Textures folder.
Remember, make a backup of the original 'heightmap.png' before using this one.

This could be useful in lugaru: 2031... Nah, I'll just build everything from blocks and walls.

I have found, alot of the time, when i Too many Blocks are used, The game slows down.

This is good, how ever, how do you stop people from running up those blocks? :?

IMO it'd be better to keep the window texture and use it for blocks instead. It'd also stop you running up them.
