Yeah that purple made me fairly irritable when I first was thrown a chunk of text in it, and purple is my favorite colour!

Still, wearing it and reading it are two separate focuses.

I think I'm just angry because I'm on a forum, and forums have a psychologically damaging affect on 10% of the population. It just turns us into enraged, blithering idiots who flame for no apparent reason.

Ironic, I've only flamed once on a forum ever (other than that "fuck off" thing I just gave the newb) and it was a misunderstanding when I was 11...lmao.

Btw, birthday was today, s'pose i oughta have mentioned that xD The big 16, no big deal to me. I feel no different.

Happy Birthday Blorx!

And meh, even with a flame like that, if he isn't new to forums entirely, he'll realize that is getting off pretty easily.
Also I think I would like 3OH!3 more if all my preppy Jonas Brothers friends weren't trying to cram all of their worst songs down my throat.
This thread has had a LOT of topics hasn't it? Fake people, grammar, newbs, birthday's, music, old forum flamers, it's pretty funny.

Weird.

This forum turns me into a blithering idiot and another forum I go to turns me into an enraged person who flames for no reason.

I'm halfnhalf I guess.

And then there's the rare forum that makes me SMARTER. And I'm like "WOAH HOW THE CRAB DID THAT HAPPEN!?"

I feel I need to add one last thing for the people currently exploding at me:

I was merely explaining my opinion. I thought I owed it to Renegade after he said:
I wonder how I can make people I've never even acknowledged the presence of so upset.

On a related topic, I may be new, but I'm hardly a blithering idiot. Being called a newb for criticising someone's aesthetic choices seems rather infantile to me. It may be that I came off as insulting, but when it comes right down to it there's no gentle way to (genuinely) tell people why you dislike something about them. As I said before, I'll get used to it, but I've come across a fair few idiots with superiority complexes and coloured text over the years and as a rule they generally piss me off. That's the way it is.

At any rate, I'll do my best to contribute to the community and my intention when I came into this thread was not to piss people off. Initially, I just thought I'd like to point out something that I found ironic.

Aaaaanyway, next time I go on a tyrade, I hope more people give it all the consideration that they'd give to any post by Renegade turner, whether they agree with it or not - in fact I spotted a few likely candidates earlier in the thread concerning grammar nazism and "transitory verbs" - but for now, I'm going to leave it. I'm not a troll.

In all fairness, I didn't overreact to your post, so don't blame me. lolz

But if you're going to call people infantile, I do think that's a bit hypocritical considering you just stated that you think anyone with coloured text has a superiority complex. A rather rash generalisation.

The five South Americans I've met are murderers, therefore all the South Americans in the world are most likely to be murderers. That kind of reasoning doesn't really go, although it was an example that was a small bit on the extreme side.

I think Asher Roth is okay...that I Love College song is nice to listen to if you're not looking for him to say anything funny or interesting. lol. Generally I judge rappers on their flow and lyrics. Asher Roth's delivery seems rather lazy, like he's at the end of a marijuana high and is feeling sleepy. Also, his lyrics aren't that witty.

I don't see how he got so popular. Wait, scratch that, I can understand anyone becoming popular, I just can't understand how people think he's actually very good.

If we're talking about delivery and more interesting themes and sharper wit, then Lupe Fiasco or Tupac Shakur or Eminem surely surpass him.

Lawlz. Tupac's dead and well...I don't really like Eminem. His voice annoys the crap out of me.
Btw, good SERIOUS rap is Aesop Rock, imo at least.

I happen to enjoy eminem quite a bit. I have one tupac song that I never really listen to, not really a rap fan (except eminem!)

Oh yeah, guess who just downloaded "With Roots Above and Branches Below?" It's SICK!!!

Also, I said several times this post had nothing to do with you and I had nothing against you. :P

lol. That album has a song called "Lord Xenu", it HAS to be epic. I think that's a funny thing about music these days, you can download the albums before they come out. My brother had the newest Mastodon album "Crack The Skye" before it came out. That album, by the way, is pretty f'ing awesome, and I just realised I don't have it. lol

You're listening to the wrong Tupac songs, my man.

*** I Ain't Mad At Cha: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3q0gqpOyx9o (fast forward to 1:08, that's where it starts)

*** Starin' Through My Rearview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lk2MyHFOGMU

*** Until The End Of Time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7JuArhpTB8

*** Brenda's Got A Baby: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl54ABY8VgY

*** Part Time Mutha: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUGF_zYX8H0

*** Mama's Just A Little Girl: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mNW79JWhhs (fast forward to 0:20, that's where the song starts)

*** Me Against The World: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cjv7hEAytU

*** Better Dayz: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrAAXq_lyN0

These are songs where he's not dealing with the same boring themes that have become typical of the industry, i.e. girls, cars, guns, money. He talks about things like unexpected pregnancy, underage mothers, rifts in friendships, growing up, his relationship with his mother, the demons that plagued society in his day like drug dealers and dishonest police.

My favourite verse of any of his songs is the last one from Me Against The World:

"With all this extra stressing
The question I wonder is after death, after my last breath
When will I finally get to rest? Through this supression
they punish the people that's asking questions
And those that possess, steal from the ones without possesions
The message I stress: to make it stop study your lessons
Don't settle for less - even the genius asks questions
Be grateful for blessings
Don't ever change, keep your essence
The power is in the people and politics we address.
Always do your best, don't let the pressure make you panic
And when you get stranded
And things don't go the way you planned it
Dreamin' of riches, in a position of making a difference,
Politicians and hypocrites, they don't wanna listen.
If I'm insane, it's the fame made a brother change
It wasn't nothing like the game.
It's just me against the world."

Also, here's an AWESOME song from Mastodon's newest album:

*** Oblivion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZkMEm6E96Y

For some reason, the vocals remind me at times of Layne Staley and at times of early Ozzy Osbourne.

Beck is NOT a rapper. And he's not indie.

And "The Guillotine" is good, but "My Apocalypse" is much better. It really has one of the best riffs ever. Pity the vocalist Ronnie Radke got put in jail for a gangland murder, and subsequently had to leave the band. He was a prick anyway. But a good vocalist nonetheless:

*** Escape The Fate - My Apocalypse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQc_wTwmuOQ

Also, Alesana's new album was good, but it really didn't recreate the brutality and awesomeness of the first two records, the Try This With Your Eyes Closed EP and the On Frail Wings Of Vanity And Wax LP. "And They Call This Tragedy", which was re-recorded for the latest LP, Where Myth Fades To Legend, was originally on the first EP. It sounded MUCH better on the EP. I'll show you:

*** Try This With Your Eyes Closed (EP) Version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y67JFUqz_LU

*** Where Myth Fades To Legend (LP) Version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scrpqC0TIC4

The Where Myth Fades To Legend re-recorded version is so overproduced, it lost the raw raging amazingness of the original version.

Dude, I already have and have had Mastodon's Crack the Skye since early March lol. It's epic and I love how Divinations starts the album off with a banjo.

I still don't like Tupac, btw. I just don't like the 'gangsta rap' scene. The usual rap I listen to is like Aesop Rock, Flipsyde, Asher Roth, LMFAO (not sure if they're rap or techno =P), Flobots, Hollywood Undead, Brokeyncyde, some Kanye West, K'naan, Dragon, The Teriyaki Boyz (I'm serious haha), The RZA, Wu-Tang Clan, etc.

EDIT: I was waiting for you to catch the Beck thing lmao. But yeah, as far as the songs he does rap on, that's got to be one of the greatest ever. It's pretty inventive.

My favorite song by Escape the Fate is a tie between the Guillotine and This War Is Ours but I usually lean towards This War Is Ours because the opening riff is epic.
