City of Heroes is fairly 'recent', having come out in 2004, and I'm guessing that the games Blorx mentioned (none of which I've heard ofColicedus wrote:Why is that?
Some of the older online games :)

I guess if any of ya have played Ultima Online or and of it's shards, that counts
it was 1998...but...I guess this thread shows how much people of today care about older ones...anyone at least played any older single player rpgs like the Monkey Island series, the Ultima series or Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade? If not, then this thread is uber dead

Played every MI, Ultima from Ultima IV upwards and Indy Jones. MI and Indy are adventures, not RPGs.
The other games you mentioned - never heard of em.
The first actual MMOs were MUDs. 1978+ text-driven adventures. There are a few good ones among them. Nothing for Colicedus though, too slow, not enough gore.

I had a good idea of an RPG game.
You create a Team of people Paramilitary SAS guys, Like Avernum, but Each Character has His owen Personality that make him more human. (panic, Gung ho, Empathy, etc)
Game play is some what like Avernum, but with cover, and less melee and no magic. The Objectives are some what Like space hulk or the doom board game.
You gain money that can be spent on ammo and Equipment, and you also earn EXP to make each Characters More Prestige.
Once you have a group at the max out level, you can go online and do Death matches and PvP.
I also Stress Getting rid of HP and using the Godlike system of Shock points. and Death is Death, once dead, a team mate is dead. you then have to recruit a new guy. how ever, for the first turn a person dies, you can use a medic to revive him, but he becomes Non-combat worthy and has to be Evacuated and cant just Rez.
Not an MMO but would that not be a game that RULEZ!

I've played through every adventure I've ever put my hands on. And that's a lot. Used to play PD text adventures like crazy when I was about 11. But I had issues with the complicated ones (language barrier) and had to consult my brother quite often.
The Space Quest saga was a piece of cake. And hell of a lot of fun. I've played SQIII again recently (on an ST, having a Roland MT-32 plugged into the MIDI port
) and must say that is one fine game. As most of the classic text-driven graphic adventures from Sierra back then. Like KQ. Or PQ. Or Manhunter. Or... Geeze, whatever you can get your hands on, go ahead and try it. Worth your time.
Sierra should get cool again like they were back in the days. Freaking idols. They still put awesome games into the competition, but it was MAGIC back then. Holy crap. *faints*
