Wawp: The land before stickmen.

Post by invertin » Sat Apr 19, 2008 4:38 am

Based off of Cubivore and a bit off of E.V.O .

Story:
When life was first created, it was a single cell, it slowly evolved, but not into a frog or a fish, they first evolved into a ball.

Millions of years later, some creatures started to grow limbs, and discovered two things-
One- the color changed the limb.
Two- If they ate eachother's limbs, they would change to that type.

You are a child, the first of your "species" of ball to grow a limb. As you eat and grow and have children, your species will grow to have more limbs.
Image

While you now play as a species of ball instead of a single stickman, the gameplay is pretty much the same. Tell him to do something and he'll do it, if he can't, he won't. There are extra's in this limb system that effect whether or not he can do certain things.

That dark green thing on the floor is a Bush. certain enemies hide in bushes, you might get lucky and get a rare type. Or you might get something much stronger than you which is an obvious problem.

Now then- an explanation of the limb system.

You are currently a Black figure. Black is the default color for your species. If you kill and eat a green figure, you will become a green figure.

At the moment you have one limb, if you manage to mate, your child will have 2 limbs. He can then mix and match colors. For instance, if he eats a green and a red, he will become a 2-limb yellow. If he eats 2 reds, he will become a 2-limb red. If he eats a red and a blue, he will become a 2-limb purple. etc. etc.

Greys are uneatable (but not unkillable) and act like bosses.

Secondary colors (orange, purple, etc) do not appear as enemies except for green and yellow. (This works on a RB+YG system)

Sounds surprisingly like some flash game someone posted something about on this forum before where you're a sea creature thingy and you swim around eating muthafuckas.

Oh yeah. I think I know what you mean. It was fun for the first few levels but then it got boring.

Besides, I realize that starting up a CYOC (that's what these are called- Choose Your Own Comic) with a fairly actionbased format is stupid. So the next area will have puzzles involving this limby thing. Which'll make more sense to anyone who's ever played/watched someone play cubivore.

Sounds interesting..but how do you play? The flash isn't responsive, to me at least.

You tell me what you want the guy to do next and I animate it.

I'm guessing you weren't here for Wawp 1. (which failed due to laziness)

I feel your pain. Back in middle school I made a lot of cool games in Hypercard and FutureBASIC, but somebody deleted them. It would have been nice to go back and look at them or post them here, but I can't do that now.
