Trouble dealing with wolves
Re: Trouble dealing with wolves
If you get up on top of the wall off the upper section in Canyon (the area with the walking wolf, two sitting bunnies and a sleeping wolf) then start running to the left (as you face the enemies) the wolf will start running to the right (away from you) on the lower level and then tackle you from the left on the upper level (the wall where you are running).
He does not run in a direct line towards you to tackle. This essentially means that somehow the wolf has either:
A) teleported, or;
B) run so fast that he manages to pass through walls and go all the way around the spherical world of Lugaru and pass through more walls while rising 6 to 10 Lugaru Feet to tackle you in one micro-milli-second.
Either one is preposterous; I choose to believe in teleportation.
The problem seeing it is that they only "teleport" if they're far away to begin with; if you run away from them when you're close, they easily run you down. Try approaching from behind or the side, letting the wolf become aware of you, then run at an angle. You should see them move in a direction that is not directly toward you, and tackle you from a different angle; you won't see them turn towards you.
You can also see them teleport if you jump around a lot near a group of wolves; they will leap after you and try to grab you in the air, and the ones farthest away suddenly appear right next to you in the air (and sometimes slam into you). They don't run up quickly and then leap, nor do they sail a long distance; they're just there all of a sudden.

well, teleporting or not, i believe it adds to the gameplay, wolves being extremely dangerous forces you to adjust your fighting style, and makes it more intense.

or you turn on debug, set your power and strength to 15 and make sure to kick the wolf so that you can see it turn into a bloody mist

Ah... Red mist, I wish there was a way of doing that with a hit from a sword.

Re: Trouble dealing with wolves
Definitely not - you're one of the good wolves. I was talking about the tele-tacklin' kind.

Re: Trouble dealing with wolves
Y'know, i've never ever seen that work? Any number of enemies in a line, I leg canon the first one. He slams into the second one, then their bodies fly through the rest without harming them. Every single time. Could someone post a video of this for me?Misanthropy wrote:Get them all in a close proximity to eachother as they follow you. Then, jump-backflip until they all stop and then quickly leg vault the one in front. It'll set off a chain reaction and kill all of them. I've killed 8 wolves in one vault using this method.
EDIT: The Tele-Tackle.

There is also another reason not to throw knives at wolves. If the knife connects and hurts him, he usually doesnt die, and he will use the knife against you (Applies with all enmeies who survive the knife throw)
Re: Trouble dealing with wolves
Ah, but if you get a knife in them, you can yank it back out while they're on the ground. That kills them. Besides, isn't a wolf with a knife slightly weaker than a wolf using his natural weapons?

Wolves don't die from a knife strike unless they're already low on health, but they don't always pull it out either.lyonslink602 wrote:There is also another reason not to throw knives at wolves. On the three wolves level of the original campaign, I usually draw my knife and run down the hill towards the closest wolf, then leap (towards the farthest wolf) when he runs at me. I flip as I pass him to make him dodge. then again as I pass the middle wolf; this keeps them out of the way.
I land behind the farthest wolf (dark brown) and trach him, then immediately back-dodge to escape the wolves closing on me. I usually try a few ninja knife throws, and if one connects the wolf often leaves the knife in. I then concentrate on knocking him down and roll 'n pull for a kill.
I don't worry too much about a wolf with a knife; it just gives me another reversal option. But I never slash a wolf; unless he's nearly dead, he immediately slashes you: the knife slash never staggers them like it does other enemies.
