Rabbit concept contest?

Post by Armageddon » Thu Sep 17, 2009 9:04 pm

Hello. I was just looking at the rabbit model and was thinking that maybe there would be a rabbit concept challenge where you submit your rabbit art and the best one will get put into the game. Just an idea! :D

I don't think it's a good idea to push even more work to the developers. Other people could volunteer to model the concepts in 3D, but you don't need a contest for that if your concept art is awesome enough, or if you bother to learn a 3d modeling program yourself. The latter is entirely possible, and would be useful for modding, even though it's quite a lot of work if you don't plan to use it for anything else.

Besides, if they did anything like they did with Lugaru (and it sounds like they are since they were talking about clothing engines and such) then they will most likely have one model (perhaps with morph points or whatever so that you can change the bulkiness or skinniness or whatever) and then clothing would be put on over the model... I was sort of thinking the shaders would sort of be a texture put on the animal which there shader then 'grew' strands of the same color on...

So, we probably only need one model each...

Unless of course you take into account of rabbits with floppy ears etc... then I don't know what would happen... a body model with a head put on it (I.E. Operation Flashpoint)?

Soft-Body ears would be seriously awesome, but they would have to be separate objects.

Wow... I can see it now; A long-eared ninja rabbit, jumping fiercely and gracefully from a branch, soaring through the air with, nose piercing the currents, and his floppy ears waving behind his head like two graceful, silly, tiny capes.

Would that take a lot of processing power?

This is the current tech for real-time simulation:

Much more than simple soft bodies.
