Disney is cool, talk about animated movies, etc

Post by Endoperez » Tue Dec 07, 2010 3:03 am

So...

This year has been a good year for a fan of animated movies. How to Train Your Dragon, which I haven't seen yet, and Toy Story 3, another feature that I'lm going to buy on the DVD as soon as I have money to spare. Finally, Tangled, the newest Disney movie. It's ANOTHER animation that's received fantastic reviews, and the tech demos are AWESOME. That hair... ALL that hair... All that long, long HAIR...

*drool* Those "failed" shots show a level of technology I thought impossible. Pixar's Incredibles, few years ago, had hair that looks like a wig made of rat tails compares to what they have there, and that was cutting edge what, six years ago?

So, what else is Disney up to, these days? Well, they're making Winnie the Pooh movie... Okay, I might pass that. A movie about an old has-been video game character? Okay, that sounds more interesting. Oh, and here's something else, too - they're working on Terry Pratchett's Mort.

What's that?

Terry Pratchett’s Mort To Become A Disney Animation?

Wait, WHAT, really?

Terry Pratchett’s Mort To Become A Disney Animation?

:o  :) :D

Blue Sky Disney blog, 4, tells us:
First off, patience should be expected as it's very early in development. They've just recently secured the rights to it so there hasn't been a lot done. These films take about three years to churn out so it'll be at least that long before you see it. That means 2013 at the earliest. And for my opinion, it won't be out then. More likely it'll be 2014.

But is it true, ask our reporters? Mr Blue Sky Disney, 4, continues:
Yes, kinda. I will say that the film does take place in the Discworld series which is where the Mort book (fourth in the line of books, btw) takes place, but remember that this is an adaptation that won't necessarily be literal (no film adaptation really is). I got confirmation from the Bothans of this. The hero of the book shows that this is an entirely different kind of story than Walt Disney Animation Studio has told before, but it does have a princess in it. Remember that this is early in the process and things can change.
...
So now you know what the next hand drawn is, but you still don't know how different it really is...

So... Any other people whose interest in Disney has increased recently? Also feel free to speak about other stuff, like Pixar's or Dreamwork's movies or anime or whatever. I'd appreciate it if you avoided spoilers, since I haven't seen even Up.

You do know that Pixar has been part of Disney for a while now, right? Also, John Lasseter, one of the big guys at Pixar, has likewise had an official and weighty position at Disney. Among other things, he urged Disney to start making and-drawn animated features again.

I like the modern works of Disney, but Walt Disney was a fascist nazi scumbag.

Nah, there's nothing interesting here. I mean, Disney is all for kids, no one but Disney makes anything good, blabla.

Ya, I know.

I think of Pixar as "the part of Disney that is good".

The rest of Disney hasn't been much chop since the 90s.

I gotta agree with that. I don't think I've seen any of the Disney features released in the 2000s. Home on the Range, Chicken Little and Meet the Robinsons I wouldn't like to see, and the movies before those weren't received as well as the big classics either. I might watch some of them, eventually, like Lilo & Stitch.

However, Tangled I'm going to see for sure. I've heard nothing but good things about it. I doubt Winnie the Pooh movie can be as good, but the projects after that are very promising.

I was thinking about going to a movie this weekend ... and i looked at tangled and some other animated movie (mastermind, megamind, or something)

But I don't believe I'm secure enough to sit in a theater full of kids while their parents wonder if I'm a pedophile :P

I'm getting to the age where being anywhere near kids isn't very acceptable anymore ...

In high school, people think "Aww, that high school student is playing catch with those kids"

In college, people think "Why is there a bearded man playing with my kids!?!?"

The Princess And The Frog was quite fantastic. Came out last year, and it's a Disney film.

Yeah, I quite enjoyed that one, too.

Lawrence: Prince, I have been looking for you everywhere!
Prince Naveen: What a coincidence, because I have been avoiding you everywhere!

Priceless. Image
