Phoenix Engine 6-21-05 Per-pixel lighting

Post by David » Wed Jun 22, 2005 1:05 am

I added lighting shaders to render lights per-pixel rather than per-vertex; This allows for diffuse and specular bump mapping as well as an unlimited number of light sources.

I am going away for two weeks, but I will bring my computer so I can continue to work on this; though I might not be adding a major feature every day like I am now.

david: are we going to see realtime shadows that interact withcharacters and objects, ie not just casting shadows on the ground.

edit: sweet stuff btw, bump-mapping = unlimited possibilities :)

And objects cast shadows on eachother, as we can see in:

Also notice that the head/neck is casting a shadow on the chest(this thread).

Will it work on an G5 1,8 GHZ, 64MB Geforce, with 768 MB of RAM?
Then I can play it. Im glad I got a 512 MB of extra memory.
But I still have this sick Lugaru problem. On Panther, it worked on all highest
settings, but when I updated to Tiger, it started to lag :? (just a little though)

that's probably because carbon doesn't run quite as well on tiger, I'm not quite sure why.
